When Ray Lilly was thirteen years old, a handgun accident landed his best friend, Jon Burrows, in a wheelchair and turned Ray into a runaway and petty criminal. Harry Connolly is the author of the Twenty Palaces series; King Khan; A Key, an Egg, an Unfortunate Remark; and Bad Little Girls Die Horrible Deaths and Other Tales of Dark Fantasy. The first book in the Twenty Palaces series, Child of Fire, was named one of Publishers Weekly's Best 100 Novels of 2009.
