Story about a scientist who discovers a deadly species of fly in Africa and wishes to use it for the elimination of an adversary. He disregards the superstitions of the Africans who believe that the soul of the one killed by this "devilish fly" enters the body of the insect.

His creation was particularly the idea concluding the Winged Death, even though it was rejected in "Strange Stories" – supposedly, another author had come up with a similar punchline earlier. The editor-in-chief of "Weird Tales" pondered for a long time before accepting the story.
