The narrator is absolutely awful.. Every voice she does sounds the exactly the same.. Some poor rendering of a deep southern accent done very very very badly

I love this series with a passion. The mythos is very interesting. The characters have their own stories that are revealed in other books in the series. Spoiler: Nick's story comes full circle in dragon mark, sworn, stygian. There are a lot of references in those books I think advid readers whom have not yet read them will have an 'oh snap' moment. When they get a chance to read/listen to them.

This is probably the 10th time I've read this book. Well, this time I listened... Sherrilyn's Dark Hunter Series rates up there in the top 3 of any category you can put her, the author, or her books in. Sherrilyn's earliest writing is her best (even Kinley) but she's not capable of producing a bad read. But this one is my absolute favorite. Sherrilyn's strength is putting the words together to describe feelings. I can feel her characters. I can sympathize and empathize. I feel like I'm right there in THAT place and time. I didn't love the audio. The accents didn't feel right (to me). The voice talent didn't know the characters or the book. The emotions were not portrayed well at all. And the audio was super rushed in parts. Personally, I'd rather an author just use his/her voice for all characters but use the appropriate inflections, pauses, strength in tone or softness of tone to allow the reader to paint their own pictures. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great audio book and worth every penny.
