There is something sweet & sinister about this series. As a start of the series, this book does a great job of introducing the Ghost team & set the stage for the larger series plot. Lara & Tate's story is the start of the next generation of Ghost operatives. I haven't read or heard the earlier series &, while there were references to some events from that time, I didn't feel like I needed to experience those books to enjoy these. Lara and Tate's story has the right balance of suspense & romance.

Resistance, secrets, revelations and repercussions abound in this story. Tate and his associates arrive in Glen Hollow, to a situation fraught with tension and danger between the townsfolk and a society entrenched in their own ways. He also finds unexpected possibilities when he meets Lara. Their attraction is reciprocal, sweet and sexy. Their coming together is entertaining from start to finish. The narration does a good job giving vibrancy to the story. I will definitely continue this series.

Lara owns a local bakery, and is kidnapped (thus the book title). Excellent start to the series. It is well written, good characters, an
