About this audiobook

Stranded in space: no fuel, no way home...and no one coming to help.

Nineteen-year-old Kitra Yilmaz dreams of traveling the galaxy like her Ambassador mother. But soaring in her glider is the closest she can get to touching the stars--until she stakes her inheritance on a salvage Navy spaceship. On its shakedown cruise, Kitra's ship plunges into hyperspace, stranding Kitra and her crew light years away. Tensions rise between Kitra and her shipmates: the handsome programmer, Fareedh; Marta, biologist and Kitra's ex-girlfriend; Peter, the panicking engineer, and the oddball alien navigator, Pinky.

Now, running low on air and food, it'll take all of them working together to get back home.

I was given this audiobook of Kitra. I had previously owned and read many of Gideon Marcus' work, including the ebook and soft cover versions of Kitra. From the start, it hooks you in dropping you into an auction of a spaceship and situation during a shakedown cruise. The book is surrounded by exploration, adventure and fear of the unknown, making a brilliant opening to a great new sci-fi space series. Don't let the YA category throw you off. It's great for all audiences with the main protagonist, Kitra Yilmaz the Captain and her band of fellow friends she convinced to come along, find themselves in a dire situation. It takes all the will, inventiveness and mental fortitude to survive and thrive. What will Kitra and her crew do? The narration was not only professional it was smooth and well done for a young narrator. It was beyond impressive. She brought life and beauty to work, which is already very good. I heavily recommend both the book and audiobook to everyone. Both are 5 stars.
