About this audiobook

ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) is now recognized as one of the most common causes of learning and behavioral difficulties in school-aged children. Symptoms include poor concentration, forgetfulness, poor organization, impulsivity, restlessness, poor social skills, learning difficulties, low self-esteem, and defiant behavior. Despite growing awareness of ADHD among parents and health professionals, it is still widely misunderstood. This third edition of ADHD: The Facts provides information on how ADHD is diagnosed, on conventional medical and alternative therapies, and on ways of helping children to improve their own behavior, self-esteem, and academic results. Written by an experienced pediatrician, the book provides practical advice to help parents understand their child's difficulties and how to overcome them. With detailed explanations of the cause of ADHD, its nature, and treatments of the condition that have proved effective over time, this new edition includes developments in the understanding of conditions that often coexist with it, as well as problems experienced by adults with ADHD.

I'm about three quarters of the way through this book, and i hate to say this, but i find so much of this information laughable and outdated as well as some of it being complete misinformation. So many of the symptoms explained away under " this " or " that " in these chapters are really autistic traits. As an adult with both autism and ADHD ( with above average IQ ) I can assure you that neither ADHD nor autism resolves itself...there is no such thing as " residual symptoms " into adulthood after the condition is resolved. This is another representation of why i firmly believe that nuerodivergence should not be treated under nuerotypical providers. The information they have is simply wrong.
