ETA: The audiobook of this is fantastic, too. All of this sounds even funnier when performed. The narrator did a great job of balancing Damien's innate kindness and honor with his need to hide emotions -- a very fine line. There are so many crazy characters in here who need voices to match the wacky, and I was impressed with his performances. I have been so excited that this book was coming! There has been so much upheaval in this world, and now the gods have retired. Who better to call on for help than their most trusted tailor, Damien? He has been a side character, but he obviously has a very involved backstory. This book reveals that backstory and sets him up for his new life, but it is only the start of his ups and downs, poor guy. Luckily for us, his challenges are hilarious to read about. Everything in this book is a surprise. I will say that I adored Damien even more than I expected to, and his "crew" is lovably wacky. I can hardly wait for the next book to find out more.
