I jusr finishes the sample, which is over an hour long, and I still feel like the story was building. Like, I think after nearly 2 hours, multiple chapters, we should be into the meat of the story already. The foundation should be layed. I should know why a specific type of magic is illegal and how it all works. But, no. Still not sure where the story is heady or why we're going there. Don't know if I'll buy the book.
