About this audiobook

In the wake of tragedy, three people discover unexpected happiness and love in this heartwarming novel of magic, hope, and family, infused with the spirit of the holiday season—the first book in New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas's Friday Harbor series, and the basis of the Hallmark Hall of Fame television movie Christmas with Holly.

When his sister, Victoria, died in a car accident, Mark Nolan became the guardian of his six-year-old niece Holly. But it hasn’t been easy. Since that tragic night, the little girl hasn’t spoken a word. Mark isn’t sure how to help Holly. All he can do is follow his sister’s wise advice: Start by loving her. The rest will follow.

Maggie Collins was barely married a year when she suddenly lost her husband. Though she doesn’t dare let herself believe in love again, the toy store owner does believe in magic—the power of imagination. When she meets Holly Nolan, she knows just what the quiet little girl needs.

Thrust together by the vagaries of fate, three wounded people are about to share the greatest Christmas gift of all. . . .

Audiobook review: Overall – 5 Performance – 5 Story – 5 Very touching story. This is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Kleypas. Even though it was first published in 2010 it didn’t feel dated to me. I love the single dad trope and this was a really good one. The story has a Christmas theme but I enjoy them year ‘round so it didn’t matter to me that I listened to this in April. I understand that there’s a Hallmark movie based on this story but I haven’t seen it. Mark becomes a father in an instant when his sister’s death leaves him as the guardian of his niece, Holly. Holly hasn’t spoken since her mother died but the caring suggestions of Maggie, a local shop owner. help Holly to regain her voice. This begins kind of a three-way relationship with Holly, Mark and Maggie. Mark is dating another woman when he meets Maggie but he can’t help but be drawn to her and how she cares for Holly. Tanya Eby gives another great performance. It’s the second audiobook from her that I’ve listened to recently. Her voice is easy to listen to and she does a great job with male voices which is important to me when listening to a romance. If you enjoy a sweet, romantic story this one might be a good choice for you. A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
