«Болесь» — произведение русского прозика и драматурга, одного из самых известных в мире русских писателей и мыслителей Макси́ма Го́рького (настоящее имя — Алексе́й Макси́мович Пешко́в, 1868–1936). Рассказ написан в 1896 году. Оригинальный сюжет, необычный конец. Горький был самым издаваемым в СССР советским писателем за 1918–1986 годы. Общий тираж 3556 изданий составил 242,621 млн экземпляров. Если же принимать в расчет не только советских писателей, то Горький уступает лишь Л.Толстому и А. Пушкину. Перу Горького принадлежат и такие произведения: «Бык», «В людях», «В сочельник», «В степи», «В ущелье».
