1889年，在Gershom Stewart及 Murray Rumsey的倡議下，香港成立了香港哥爾夫球會，並以“Festina Lente”作為球會格言。香港哥爾夫球會創立至今已有130年歷史，見證著香港社會的發展，構成了香港歷史的重要部分，尤其是粉嶺球場，包括評為二級歷史建築、建於1911年的會所及評為三級歷史建築、1918年啟用的小食亭。本書通過豐富的文字材料及詳盡的口述訪問，再加上珍貴的歷史圖片，全面地呈現出香港哥爾夫球會130年來積極推動本地高爾夫球運動及貢獻香港社會的歷程。
About the author
劉智鵬，現任嶺南大學協理副校長（學術及對外關係）及歷史系教授，兼任香港與華南歷史研究部主任。學術興趣集中於宋元明清思想史、香港歷史、方志學等。近二十年來，劉教授專注投入香港歷史的研究和教學工作，著作包括《天空下的傳奇》、《與香港藝術對話1960-1975》、《吞聲忍語：日治時期香港人的集體回憶》等多種。除了研究和教學，劉教授亦積極向本地社會推廣香港歷史，多年來在報章、雜誌、電台、電視、網絡等平台上撰文、發聲、亮相；同時積極參與公共服務，將學術知識轉移為社會共享資源。
