五四社會鼓勵女性「進步」卻又要求女性盡職扮演「賢妻良母」的矛盾期待，使得「婚戀問題」成為知識女性的重大考驗。正是由於中國五四婦女解放運動有著工具性意義大於主體性的特點；因此在這樣的背景之下，「愛情」在當時身為高級女性知識分子的五四女作家們筆下總是充滿灰色的憂愁與掙扎，全然不見玫瑰色的浪漫與憧憬。與五四男作家們相異，五四女作家總是不得不在父家、夫家之間試圖尋找屬於「她自己的家」。本書即以此為題，利用五四時期重視的「婚戀問題」為中心，試圖爬梳陳衡哲、廬隱、蘇雪林、冰心、凌叔華、馮沅君、石評梅等七位五四女作家小說中所呈現的婚戀議題，期能以此挖掘出女作家們的性別主體性思考。【秀威資訊科技股份有限公司製作】
