自転車での日本一周をめざし、友人の陣太郎と共に旅に出た輪太郎。途中から一人旅となっていた輪太郎は、知床半島の山中で出会った金髪ヒッチ・ハイカーのリンと共に、ウトロ港へと向かう。そこで、団体旅行に来ていた隣家の公害オヤジ・田沼と出くわし、リズムを奪われる。そして、ようやくリン、田沼と別れ、一人網走をめざすのだった。一方、その頃、友人の陣太郎は屈斜路湖、日高は根室にいた。
