담인 무협 소설에서의 배신이란, 자주 등장하는 단골 메뉴지만 나올 때마다 기대하고 궁금하게 하는 소재다. 『낙월진천』의 석린도 처절하게 배신당하며 행보를 시작한다. 하지만 작가는 이 평범한 소재를 다이내믹하게 풀어내 긴장감을 최고조로 이끌었다. 어느 곳에서 시련을 주고, 또 어느 곳에서 통쾌함을 줘야 하는지 너무 잘 아는 베테랑처럼 부드럽고 또 강한 필력으로 완성도 있는 이야기를 펼쳐냈다. 재미뿐 아니라 독자들의 마음까지 움직일 수 있는 이야기가 호평받는 요즘 그 흐름에 딱 알맞은 작품이 아닐까 생각한다.
