지은이_진 웹스터 (Jean Webster, 1876~1916) 미국 뉴욕 출생의 여류 아동문학가로 1912년《키다리 아저씨》를 발표하여 유명해졌다. 경쾌하고 유머 넘치는 문체와 작품에 흐르는 미국 전래의 이상주의가 지금도 젊은 독자들을 끌어들이고 있다. 이 작품 외에도 《패티, 대학에 가다》,《속(續) 키다리 아저씨》 등을 남겼다.《톰 소여의 모험》, 《허클베리 핀의 모험》으로 유명한 미국 소설가 마크 트웨인은 그녀의 외삼촌이다. 옮긴이_김지영 대학에서 영문학을 전공했으며, 광고 기획 일과 더불어 번역 작업을 하고 있다.
