In a small town located in Cloverland, Indiana, stood the infamous 100 Steps Cemetery that dates back to the Civil War. Legend had it that those brave enough to ascend the steps and count out loud each step until they reached the 100th step at exactly midnight. Then turn around to descend, and the original caretaker would materialize and show you the time, and manner of your death.

Jake, a curious teenager with a penchant for thrill-seeking, dared his friends, Sarah and Mike, to join him on the expedition. As night draped the cemetery in an ominous cloak, the trio ventured forth. Their footsteps echoed against the weathered stones, the air thick with anticipation.

"Are we doing this?" Sarah's voice trembled as they reached the foot of the staircase.

"Come on, don't tell me you're scared now," Jake teased, his bravado masking a hint of unease.

With cautious steps, they ascended, each stair creaking underfoot. The eerie silence enveloped them as they approached the last step.

Suddenly, a spectral figure materialized before them, causing Sarah to gasp in terror. "What do you seek in this realm of the departed?" the apparition intoned, its voice resonating with an otherworldly echo.

"We just wanted to see if the legend was true," Mike stammered, his voice quivering.
