Notwithstanding the mediation of how he practices art and the medium of his technique and material, Paolo Grassino never loses sight of the real world that surrounds him or of society and its contradictions; rather, these serve as his muses as he criticizes the present and offers his original interpretation. Representing banally what exists is, for the artist, an act with little meaning, because what exists is right in front of him, and so we can see and live it directly; still less meaningful is a faithful reproduction of what we see as it reduces art to a mere exercise in style. Where this happens, there is an absence of art. And Paolo Grassino understands this perfectly here he presents us his sustainable visibility of absence.
