मन हे विशाल साहित्याचा शाश्वत विषय आहे. या मनाचा कधीच काही थांग लागत नाही. अथांग सागराप्रमाणे किंवा अमर्याद आकाशाप्रमाणे हे मानवी मन आहे. `अणुरेणुया थोकडा! तुका आकाशाएवढा' असे वर्णन या मनामुळेच तुकोबा करतात. माणसाची सगळी सुखदु:खे, आशा-आकांक्षा, विचार-विकार या मनातच पहिल्यांदा उगम पावतात आणि मग त्यानुसार घटना घडत राहतात. या मनाची पुन्हा गंमत अशी आहे की, त्यात अनेक प्रकारच्या विसंगती असतात. मोठी माणसेही काही वेळा क्षुद्रपणाने वागतात, अत्यंत क्षुद्र आणि स्वार्थी माणसेही कधीकधी अत्यंत चांगुलपणाने वागतात. हा मनुष्य नावाचा प्राणी फार गमतीदार आहे. तो जसे बोलतो तसे वागत नाही, जसा वागतो तसा बोलत नाही. `बोले तैसा चाले, त्याची वंदावी पाऊले' असे संतवचन आहे ते काय उगीच?
