The most prominent of his work was the way he handled the chaos after the nuclear program and tests conducted under it. भाजपच्या राष्ट्रीय लोकशाही आघाडीच्या सत्ताकाळात श्री. जसवंतसिंग यांनी आपल्या कार्याने वेगळाच ठसा उमटविला. विशेषत: अणुचाचण्या केल्यावर जो जागतिक गदारोळ भारताविरुद्ध झाला, तो त्यांनी शमवला. इतकेच नव्हे, तर विरुद्ध गेलेल्या अमेरिकेला भारताच्या बाजूने वळवून दाखवले. या पुस्तकात त्याची रोमहर्षक कहाणी आहे.
शिवाय पाकिस्तानची निर्मिती, अणुबाँब आणि पाकिस्तानी अस्मिता, चिनी आक्रमणाच्या १२ वर्षे आधी सरदार पटेल यांनी नेहरूंना दिलेला इशारा, मुशर्रफ यांच्या गुप्त खलबतांचे ध्वनिमुद्रण, पळवलेल्या भारतीय विमानाची सुटकेमागची परिस्थिती, कारगिल युद्ध, संसदेच्या इमारतीवरील हल्ला, ‘भारताचे संरक्षण-धोके व जाणिवा’ अशा अनेक बाबतीत अद्याप प्रकाशात न आलेली माहिती जसवंतसिंग यांनी या पुस्तकात दिली आहे.
एक वैचारिक पण थरारक, राजकीय पण खिळवून ठेवणारे पुस्तक
