À propos de cet ebook

Charles Dickens’ masterfully crafted Christmas fable tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a man with wealth to match the coldness of his heart. On a mystical Christmas Eve, a visitation with spirits forces Scrooge to make a choice: change, or perish.

Quelques mots sur l'auteur

Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth in 1812 in a family of humble origins and with several problems. When in 1824 his father was imprisoned because of his debts, he was obliged to interrupt his studies and to work for six months in a shoe polish factory. He began to live in a state of absolute poverty and deprivation that marked definitively his character and his later work. Permanently abandoned his studies, he worked as a clerk in a law firm, then as a parliamentary reporter, until he got a job as a journalist in 1829. In 1837 was born his first work that began his great success and thanks to "The Pickwick Papers" he published "Oliver Twist" in episodes. In the following fifteen years Dickens wrote to his best works including "Stories of Christmas" and the famous "David Copperfield". His fame spread quickly around the world; during his life he visited America, France and settled in Genoa, Italy. He got sick during a trip to America, so he concentrated on his last work, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", which remained unfinished due to his death on June 9th, 1870. He was buried on June 14th with large honors in the Poet's Corner in Westminster Abbey.
