About this eBook

When Isabelle McLaren is given the devastating news that her ten-year old son, Thomas, has only months to live, she decides to take him to St Andrews to see Hamish McHamish, the town's famous cat who Thomas believes can cure him, if only he gets to stroke him.

But Hamish is missing, and when Thomas' health takes a sudden turn for the worse, Isabelle asks DCI Andy Gilchrist for help - find Hamish, and give her son his final wish. But in the season of goodwill to all men, will it take a cat to prove that miracles can still happen?

Praise for T.F. Muir:

'Rebus did it for Edinburgh. Laidlaw did it for Glasgow. Gilchrist might just be the bloke to put St Andrews on the crime fiction map.' Daily Record

'A truly gripping read, with all the makings of a classic series.' Mick Herron

'Gripping and grisly, with plenty of twists and turns that race along with black humour.' Craig Robertson

'Gilchrist is intriguing, bleak and vulnerable... if I were living in St Andrews I'd sleep with the lights on.' Anna Smith

I bought this book in one last attempt to get another dose of DCI Gilchrist, however small. I’ve read the entire collection in the past month and now feel a bit bereft as there are no more books to read. Such a sweet short story by an author I hadn’t heard of 5 weeks ago who is now my favourite. I actually think he’s a genius. I’m off for a fatty latte and a blueberry muffin now. I’ll just pull my collar up first...

About the author

Born in Glasgow and now a dual UK/US citizen, T.F. Muir is the author of the DCI Andy Gilchrist series - the first of which, Eye For An Eye, won the Pitlochry Award for the best crime novel by an unpublished writer, and the second, Hand For A Hand, continues to garner great reviews. He is now working on his next Gilchrist novel, another story suffused with dark alleyways, cobbled streets and all things gruesome.
