Having recently become interested in early-20th-century sci-fi/fantasy, by way of Robert E. Howard, Merritt's work was recommended by an online colleague. A quick search revealed quite a lot of options, but this collection is, by far, the best deal of those i looked through. Fifty-one of my Euro-pennies for 2000 pages, enough to keep one busy for a good long while. The disclaimer at the start of the book is worth mentioning: at the time these stories were written, the English language was used differently, and both racial and gender biases were "culturally more pronounced" than as of this writing (early 21st century). So be prepared to accept that or don't bother reading these stories. (That's NOT to say they are hotbeds of controversy, but some of the language use would not be acceptable to today's more sensitized editors and readers.)
