A Tale of Two Cities is a historical novel by Charles Dickens about the times of the French Revolution.
London, 1775. An elderly bank manager Jarvis Lorry informs a 17-year-old Lucie Manette that her father is not dead (she thought otherwise), and from the moment she was born, he has been kept in the Bastille because of accusations of a cruel Marquis St. Evremonde. He is released now and lives in Paris with his former servant Defarge.
The historical novel by Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities became paradigmatic.
