DON'T MESS WITH THIS TEXAN!

On the last leg of his tour of duty, Captain Garrett Lockhart is summoned home to Laramie, Texas, to handle an urgent family matter—a scandal that could destroy the enduring legacy of the Lockharts. Except it's already being "handled" by Hope Winslow, a professional crisis manager.

Hope is also the beautiful single mother of the most adorable baby boy the Army doctor has ever seen. Garrett is resisting Hope's efforts at damage control—and pushing her clearly defined boundaries. Too bad she can't resist him…and fantasies of a future with her Lone Star soldier!

Family drama meets romance in this intimate tale that I enjoyed during a rainy afternoon. Thacker’s vivid descriptions and solid narrative bring everything to life in a big way. The plot was interesting and unique, without ever becoming convoluted. This was a nice, quick, crisp read. Although I quite enjoyed the characters that Thacker develops, I did find them rather superficial at times. There seemed to be very little to them outside of the immediate events of the story. At the same time, they were interesting individuals. My heart went out to them more than once. This novel was a good introduction to Thacker’s new series. I love how she develops the overarching plot while also fulfilling readers with this intimate plot. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

**3.5 stars** Garrett Lockhart was just finishing his last tour of duty when there was a family crisis and he was called home immediately. The Lockhart Foundation had promised donations to several charities but they were never received. Even though the cheques had been written the charities didn't get them. The money was not in the bank either. Where was it? Who took it? Hope Winslow is a crisis manager who was hired to represent the family and foundation to show them in a favorable light. Not only does Hope have a demanding career but her nanny was just called away so Hope has to bring her 3 month old son, Max, with her everywhere until she can find a new nanny. She sure has her hands full with the baby, Garrett not approving of her job and working a positive spin on why the charities didn't get the donations. This is a sweet romance with great characters. There didn't seem to be anything Hope couldn't do. You've got to love such a capable woman. Garrett had a situation in the past that left him disliking all business women, especially when he felt they were twisting the truth. So right from the start, he didn't like Hope. But they couldn't fight their attraction for each other. If you like romantic suspense you will like this story.
