Adam Warren's Empowered rattles the capes-and-tights cage in a manner well-deserved for said enclosure, but That's Not All, true believer. There is "genuinely affecting emotion" (Library Journal). And it's for "real, live adults" (MTV Geek News). In fact, Empowered is "a fantastically rendered book on every conceivable level" (Comic Book Resources). Don't be a coward, get Empowered! Empowered (also the name of the main character) is a sexy superhero comedy full of funny jokes and guaranteed to make you smile and laugh. There are plenty of sexual innuendos, erotic scenes, and themes of BDSM and exhibitionism, which make this a great comic for readers who want something spicy. All of the characters have unique and distinct designs and personalities that stand out and apart from each other, and they're all very well-drawn and detailed. The main character is shy and clumsy, but very sexy and certainly recognizable as a sex icon. Even her boyfriend Thugboy is a handsome and hunky dude that complements her nicely. The art is fully penciled without color (except for the covers), and both American comic and Japanese manga art styles are mixed well in a truly distinctive aesthetic that fans of both can easily appreciate. This omnibus collects volumes 1-3, and fans who enjoy this can look forward to the other omnibuses that collect subsequent volumes (three per omnibus).
About the author
Adam Warren, born 1967, is an American comic book writer and artist who is most famous for his adaptation of the characters known as Dirty Pair into an American comic book, and for being one of the first American commercial illustrators to be influenced by the general manga style. He has also contributed to several Gen13 comics, worked as writer and character designer for the Marvel Comics series Livewires, and has done numerous freelance works. His two latest projects are Iron Man: Hypervelocity and Empowered.
