The real nightmare starts when her daughter is returned...

A girl is missing. Five years old, taken from outside her school. She has vanished, traceless.

The police are at a loss; her parents are beyond grief. Their daughter is lost forever, perhaps dead, perhaps enslaved.

But the biggest mystery is yet to come: one week after she was abducted, their daughter is returned.

She has no memory of where she has been. And this, for her mother, is just the beginning of the nightmare.

Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, C. L. Taylor and Lucy Foley

WOW!... This book has taken me months and months to read its weird I found the beginning a drag but at the same time I did not want to stop reading it altogether... I kept reading other books and popping back to it... Then last week I started reading it a bit more from when Anna was returned and my oh my its like a completely different story, fast paced, twist and turns right up to the very end... Been reading for last hour as needed to find out the ending and it kept you hanging on to the very last page and it very easy could of gone either way... A book this time 3 months ago was going to delete or at the very best try again and only leave one star 🌟 To ending up being one of the best books have read in a long time I am so glad I stuck it out with this one the 2nd part earns it 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🤗👍

"That was the root of her madness: she did not think she was a normal person, did not believe the normal rules applied to her. It made her look down on everybody else, made her believe they were worthless..."   The author did an amazing job making you feel for the characters! I was filled with feelings of anxiety, anger, sadness, relief and shock.  I finished it in one sleepless night! I couldn't put it down. If there was one draw back it was a slightly predictable. But NOT in a bad way because this was more of a psychological thriller than a who-done-it mystery.  I have no idea why he/she chose to write the book under the pseudonym Alex Lake (I plan to try and find out) Most of all because I would love to read another novel by her/him.

Fairly well written although lots of typos and some extraneous information which you found yourself skimming. Sadly predictable and the ending dragged somewhat and then suddenly rushed to a conclusion. Good plot line that could have been developed better as guessed who it was very early on. Persevered hoping there was a twist......there wasn't.
