The older I get the more I find myself thinking everyone is dumb. Turns out you can control your emotions through the practice of stoicism. I'm not finished reading the book, but I will say this, the book is interesting and is a short so you won't find yourself losing focus.

This book provides a brief historical background of Stoicism, then describes how it can be applied to your life in the modern world. Each chapter ends with action items to improve yourself as a person in thought and actions, including helping others. I agree with this philosophy: “you cannot control what happens around you, but you have full mastery of your response, and that response should be born out of courage, temperance, justice and wisdom.

Reading through these three volumes is a steady progression deeper into Stoicism. While I was at first disappointed starting the second volume due to some repetition of the first, it soon became clear that Ryan was actually expanding on the history/principles set out before. The third volume proved to follow the same pattern which I find an excellent format in that rather than just throw the whole kitchen sink at you in one shot, he gives the basics and then builds them up one level at a time.
