About this ebook

WINNER OF THE YA BOOK PRIZE 2021

LONGLISTED FOR THE POLARI CHILDREN’S & YA BOOK PRIZE 2022

A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The fourth novel from the phenomenally talented Alice Oseman, author of Solitaire and the graphic novel series Heartstopper – now a major Netflix series.

It was all sinking in. I’d never had a crush on anyone. No boys, no girls, not a single person I had ever met. What did that mean?

Georgia has never been in love, never kissed anyone, never even had a crush – but as a fanfic-obsessed romantic she’s sure she’ll find her person one day.

As she starts university with her best friends, Pip and Jason, in a whole new town far from home, Georgia’s ready to find romance, and with her outgoing roommate on her side and a place in the Shakespeare Society, her ‘teenage dream’ is in sight.

But when her romance plan wreaks havoc amongst her friends, Georgia ends up in her own comedy of errors, and she starts to question why love seems so easy for other people but not for her. With new terms thrown at her – asexual, aromantic – Georgia is more uncertain about her feelings than ever.

Is she destined to remain loveless? Or has she been looking for the wrong thing all along?

This wise, warm and witty story of identity and self-acceptance sees Alice Oseman on towering form as Georgia and her friends discover that true love isn’t limited to romance.

‘A joyous, disarmingly honest book that seems to leap right inside the mind of a teenage girl’ Independent [now iNews]

‘Loveless is an ode to friendship and platonic soulmates; this cosy blanket of a novel understandably won the YA Book Prize 2021’ Irish Times

‘A joyful tale of self-discovery” The Bookseller

as an arospec and a shy introvert, i relate to georgia warr. i feel like everything written in here is actually about my life. the difference of us is that when i found out i'm aromantic, i was actually amazed about it. i find it interesting to know that people have different perspectives towards this. the characters are diverse in terms of cultural and sexuality. it is very well written and i can feel the emotions of the characters. it makes me realize that each one of us are different in facing with our identities. i like how this is about aromanticism and asexuality. the aroace community needs more representation. knowing that the author herself is an aroace, i think this book really explains those identities and their experiences very well. i like how it explained that true love isn't just a romantic love. it also tackled how the society is expecting us that having a spouse and children is the only way to be happy and contented in life, which is not.

As someone who relates to being somewhere on the aromantic and asexual spectrums (aside from being agender) this book has given me so much joy just by existing and having a story about a character who isn't the "common relatable teenie in a romcom" kind of person. Not only has it a very good pacing but it's depicting a life of a young adult just figuring out life and herself. Sometimes nothing happens and sometimes it's happening all at once. It's almost a relief to be able to relate to the main Character Georgia in everything the world throws at her.

Personally, I love this book. It has been the first good book I actually read in years, I also hate it because I see myself in the main character, and the thought of that scares me.
