About this ebook

On a lengthy car ride to their annual seaside vacation, a mother recounts the true story of a sweet family tradition. It's the summer of 1941 in the seaside town of Langford, Rhode Island, and seventeen-year-old Meredith Franklin works as a server at Seymore's Ice Cream Shoppe. When aspiring baseball player Anthony Fanelli strolls into the ice cream shop, his teasing banter leads to romantic sparks and dreams of forever love. Their whirlwind courtship comes to an abrupt halt on December 7, 1941, when America enters World War Two, forcing the couple to put their future on hold. Decades later, a treasure trove of wartime letters details the romance of Merry and Anthony and the sacrifices of a generation.

Who knew ice cream and baseball could play matchmakers? Yet that's just what they do in Charlotte O'Shay's Always Almond Fudge. WWII forced Merry Franklin and Anthony Fanelli to put their happily-ever-after on hold but love letters discovered two generations later proved even a world war couldn’t thwart true love. O'Shay's novella wonderfully depicts the atmosphere of summer and winter in a small Rhode Island town during 1941. Once you start reading Always Almond Fudge you'll understand why I was able to read in one sitting how Merry and Anthony grow toward love and commitment. Thanks Charlotte for a trip back in time that put a smile on my face and in my heart. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a fast read about how Merry and Anthony met back in 1941 and how their granddaughter gets her son interested in their story in present time. I actually wished this was a longer story because it was so interesting. I honestly didn’t want it to end. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens. I really hope we can read more about these characters in the future. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
