About this ebook

At the end of the pew was a man I hadn’t seen since he abandoned us nearly ten years ago…my father.

Fifteen-year-old Rachel Glass lives a quiet but happy life in upstate New York. When her reality is shattered by a tragic act of school violence, she is forced to move her life across the country, to Los Angeles, California. There, Rachel comes face to face with her estranged father and the family he replaced her with. In this unfamiliar environment, she must overcome the trauma of her past, deal with her present circumstances and prepare for an uncertain future all while living with the first person to ever break her heart.

Shards of Glass is a compelling story, filled with interesting characters that feel “real”, about how a family deals with grief, and the immediate effects of loss. Seeing the story unfold through the eyes of a young teen allows the reader to experience the story from someone who feels and fully understands what is happening, while having no control over the impacts. TL;DR An emotional journey and a worthwhile read.

This story starts off with so much emotion that you are left anxious to find out what is going to happen in the end. I found myself smiling, laughing, and crying. The author is very descriptive, so you really get the feeling that you are living the moment with the characters in the story and praying for the best possible outcome. Rachel life story is very troubling with some surprise twists. It was hard to put down. A must read for young adults and the adults that are young at heart. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to all!
