About this eBook

In this medieval Scottish romance, an English lady’s unhappy betrothal leads to danger, adventure, and passion on the Scottish moors.

Scotland, 1292. Lady Sarra Bellacote would sooner marry a boar than a countryman of the bloodthirsty brutes who killed her parents. Yet despite—or perhaps because of—her valuable holdings, she is being dragged to Scotland to be wed against her will. To complicate the desperate situation, the knight hired to do the dragging is dark, wild, irresistible. And he, too, is intolerably Scottish.

Giric Armstrong, Earl of Terrick, takes no pleasure in escorting a feisty English lass to her betrothed. He simply needs the coin to rebuild his castle. But the job won’t be easy. For Lady Sarra isn’t the only one determined to see her engagement fail. Men with darker motives want to stop the wedding—even if it means killing the bride.

Now, in close quarters with this beautiful English heiress, Terrick must fight his mounting desire, and somehow keep Sarra alive long enough to lose her forever to another man . . .

“Plenty of action . . . loads of treachery. Fans of medieval Scotland will enjoy.” —Library Journal

Adventure and suspense combine with romance in this fantastic novel that truly took me back in time. Cosby goes the extra mile, creating a historically accurate novel without dwelling on it, allowing readers to simply enjoy the ride. I love how she used the traditional spelling for the character names, rather than modern ones. She uses intricate yet buoyant narrative to create a fantastic world for her readers to journey to, making her realistic and captivating story come to life. And talk about an ending! For the last quarter of the book I couldn’t look away. I devoured it! The suspense and action were unforgettable. The main characters were fantastic. She wouldn’t accept him because of her pride and pain; he wouldn’t tell her who he really was because of his own pride & pain. Yet they couldn’t ignore the growing bond between them. The way that Cosby presented them, showing both of their points of view, gives readers an inside track to their individual emotional turmoil. Even their accents and dialects carry over into the narrative, making it easy to determine who’s perspective we’re reading and to get a feel for the characters. These are some of the most complex romance characters I’ve come across in a long while. It really added to the story for me. This novel has all the marks of a good romance. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made my heart swell with the characters’ romance. Cosby truly has created a masterpiece here. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
