Roman’s Gold**** Great start to the series. Devon & Kate are a great couple, both doing everything they can to help others. The story has its funny moments and some sad so it definitely engages the emotion rollercoaster and yet it is action-packed. The shifters just want to be left alone and have the same rights as humans. They have an excellent, sophisticated underground system though and I hope to see this series eventually give them the freedom they deserve at least for those who want it. Wolf Born***** I actually read this (book 2), then immediately went nonstop to read book 3, lol. Max & Aubrey's story reveals a few secrets that they are both hiding. Aubrey's cat has a humorous side and keeps her straight about denying her attraction to Max, she has a lot to learn though. I like Max, I think he is a little bit arrogant but he is super-smart to be living in two worlds. I think his position put the kin in a good position even though it is a very dangerous one since they are hunted. Very interesting story, their fight to survive in a dying world is commendable because the enemy is questionable. Great couple, gripping and adventurous plot. Blood Bond***** The end of the trilogy is like the homemade whip cream or meringue topping on a favorite dessert. I like Johannes, he is so dedicated and loyal to the protection and stability of the shifter community. He's strong, formidable, bold and is more important to his kind then any can know. I think he's lonely yet strong-willed and content. I like Daria too, she has some of the same characteristics so they are very well matched. Their story is full of action and danger as the war against them comes to a head in full force but the way they find each other & a love that both had already given up on is heartwarming. I was given an ARC by Ann in exchange for a honest review. Underground Heat is actually three stories. Each one focuses on a particular shifter and what happened when they found their mate. The story line continues from book to book. This story takes place in a futuristic world where resources are becoming scarce and the shifters have gone into hiding to protect themselves. Two years ago the Shifters lived in a society that accepted them, then everything changed. Ann has written another great three part story. Ann’s description of the characters brings them to life. With the shifters I see the magnificent animals the character is and how they live and interact in this futuristic society. I love how the animals talk, argue and tell their bond mate what to do. I felt the feelings of the shifters as they tried to fight for their kind to be accepted by society again. Even though this story is written in three parts, it flows together so smoothly that you want to keep reading until the end of the third story. If you are a fan of Ann Gimpel, shifter stories and/or stories that are set in a futuristic world then you must read this book.
