A quick read that can be completed in one sitting. Good for a rainy afternoon of relaxation. A fast paced story with little to no angst. Both of the characters were likable. Thom had a secret that was a complete surprise to me when it was finally revealed. I figured he and Kendall had a strong connection on some level because they became comfortable with one another way too quickly. I had a couple of issues that bothered me. One was Kendall's mother. I would have been interested for more of the backstory on their relationship and how they reached that critical point. The other issue was Kendall's initial reaction to Thom's secret. Even though I understood what prompted her, I though Kendall's behavior in that one scene was a little over the top, and a bit gross. Lol. I have to say, it was an entertaining read. I am looking forward to Lane's book. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.

This was a quick read with a little bit of angst and a lot of drama. Kendall’s just received the shock of her life, but it may not end there when her car breaks down in the middle of the desert. Broody loner, Thom, has declared that he won’t be anybody’s rescuer, but it seems like fate has something else in mind when he’s the one to find Kendall and her broken down car. I wasn’t entirely a fan of Thom’s surliness in the beginning. And Kendall drove me a little bananas when she took away the wrong message when Thom revealed his big secret. But she got there eventually, and I loved the ending to this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.

Mystery and Love in the Desert Betrayed by people who should have loved her, Kendall drove away until her car broke down in the sweltering desert heat. Stranded in the Arizona desert, she was seeing illusions. However, the grumpy man who showed up was very much real, but she was not sure if he would stay to save her. Thom almost walked away, but he could not leave the woman at the mercy of the elements. Thom and Kendall did not start out on the right foot, but when he decided to rescue her and took her to his home, she wormed herself into his heart. However, Thom had secrets he could not share, and love could not flourish in the dark. What were Thom’s secrets, and what happened when Kendall learned the truth? I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like a steamy romance with mystery.

1. I despise whipped cream. There, I admitted it in writing. Let the ridiculing begin.

2. Even though I have lived as far south as Key Largo, Florida, and as far north as Maine, I landed in the middle.
