This provides the backstory of Iain and Rae. They are fantasticly likable and written characters. Iain is a swoonworthy character. For being a shorter read there is such a range of emotions from heartbreak, angst, betrayal to love. The connection between these deep and not only is palpable in a physical wat but also emotionally. This is a wonderful read.

How had I forgotten how swoony Iain MacTaggart is? He is so kind and gentle with Rae. And she looks up to him in such a cute way. They have so much simmering chemistry, and it is funny watching them pretend that they can remain just friends. I ended up falling in love with them as a couple all over again. I was a little nervous about reading this prequel because I know that their story has sad parts. I was glad that the difficult stuff only made up a small percentage of this book and that the end of prequel was hopeful in tone. That made a huge difference to me. The audiobook is even better because the narrators do a great job of performing the fun, friendship, and complicated sexual tension between Iain and Rae. Now I have to go read Notorious in a Kilt again because I think I will enjoy it even more having read the beginning part.
