Eliza: A tropical island romance - hidden secrets

I have to say I loved this even more than the first book, Pippa! The adventure of starting a resort on Pentecost Island still has the girls all busy as the opening day draws near. This time around we have a mysterious new lady joining the girls and soon slots right in with the long time friends. We get to learn Eliza's history and story as the resort build continues on. The suspense builds nicely through the story culminating in a satisfying end that still leaves the reader eager to want the next story. The story just leaves me feeling even more at home on the island with the girls. Trigger alert - Domestic violence does feature at points through the story.

This book is the perfect combination of the look back at Evie’s early life combined with the current place she finds herself - both on Pentecost Island and the new business she is now a major part of. I was drawn into the book so fast that I found it hard to put down. In the earlier Pentecost Island books, Evie has been such a lone soul and it’s been apparent that there was a deep, ingrained reason for her thoughts and actions. It's so hard to talk about the book without adding spoilers! I most definitely enjoyed getting back here and seeing just how Pentecost Island and Ma Carmichael's is drawing people in and soothing their souls. Annie Seaton is a master at digging deep into her characters and drawing them out and helping them work through their issues in a heartfelt way. I was completely surprised to find out Evie’s back story and then meet Jed, her ex, and see what made everyone tick. Although this is the 5th book in the series I feel that a person can easily enjoy the story without having read any of the previous books.
