Luca and Millie. The fun loving NHL young man with a reputation for enjoying himself with the ladies, but no commitment. Millie the studious, chemical engineer, reticent and withdrawn due to her controlling, manipulative power hungry father and overbearing, money motivated ex fiance. Neither have had a family life during their younger years. A one night stand results in a pregnancy and the complications and revelations it brings to them personally, as individuals and a couple hit hard. Trust is difficult and honesty needs to be at the forefront of it all. There are major issues to overcome. The story is detailed and involves many facets, emotions and surprises. Whilst Millie's fears are understandable, they are dreary and negative towards Luca, who needs the patient of a saint at times. Moving on from the lazy, Jack the lad, maturity suits him well. Millie 's persona slowly changes but I found her more challenging.

It was only supposed to be casual. A way to feed the need. Millie already had plans to move across the globe but ghosting Luka was not originally in them. however, as feelings began to develop Millie became a runner leaving a very confused Luka behind. Luka however is not about to give up on the one woman who turned his world upside down. He just needs to uncover what has her running scared while trying to prove to her that he is her forever With a little help from her bestie, he is pretty sure

This well-written romance takes one on a roller coaster ride as Millie and Luka face an unexpected pregnancy and the fall-out that follows. Millie hides behind her spectacles and Luka's mask is his charming smile and devil-may-care attitude, but underneath the facade, there is the pain of emotional abuse and hidden secrets.
