Amethyst and Ambrose were like She rman and Mr. Peabody taking charge. Does She have the skill to become PPD. Ambrose could use someone that used wandmaking for most of her life. Amethyst has shown how dedicated she can solve a crime. Proven on what she knows will not be easy on others.

Amethyst and Ambrose are quite the crime-solving pair. She is the quirky witch who is smarter and more capable than she thinks. He is the stoic detective who is a stickler for rules, her not so much. They partner up to solve the murder of a beloved member of the witch community. It turns out to be quite a mystery to solve. What keeps you reading is their back and forth banter that is both witty and revealing. They keep the story progressing and even made me chuckle out loud a few times. Hexes and Vexes (Amethyst's Wand Shop Mysteries #1) is the first book in this series. It is a great start and has me already looking for the next book in the series, Witches and Stitches. It seems that the books may be standalone. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Amethyst is closing her shop after a difficult customer, when someone else comes in. Detective Ambrose needs help from her to review a case. Amy makes herself invaluable to the case due to knowledge in wands. Amy and Ambrose work together trying to figure out who committed the crime. Amy starts to see another side to the detective as they start working closely together. This case is personal to Amy as well, as she knew who the victim was. This was a well written, faced paced and fun story. Amy is such a fun and quirky character, that you never know what you will get. Ambrose starts off as stiff, can't wait to learn more about this character. Love these two characters together. Loved how you don't know who committed the crime until they slowly get evidence and eliminate others. I am really excited to read the next book in series.
