Great writing, as per usual for Koontz. Started out with a rather gripping story. and, again as usual, characters you care about. Then...characters who aren't characters? happenings that aren't happening? It's hard to describe without giving away spoilers for anyone who still wants to read it. I really cared about what was going to happen to Ashley Bell, until he took away the reason for caring.

I usually love anything Dean Koontz, but I could not get into this book. Took me a week to read, because it could not hold my interest.
