British born, international musician, Asif Pishori claims over 25 years’ experience in Performance and Education. Born in the heart of England’s vibrant capital city, London, he began his formal education studying multi keyboards with Suzuki organ professor, Dr.Leon Jazz, in 1975 at the age of 6 years old.
In 1985, he was awarded a scholarship to study Piano, Keyboard and Theory under Yamaha Music School professor, Dr.Paul Michael James. During which time he gained three Grade 8 Distinctions with the Associated Boards Royal School of Music and London College of Music respectively. Later successfully furthering his professional qualifications with two major performance achievements, a Licentiate Pianoforte Diploma and Associate Keyboard Diploma at the Central Academy of Music. His education also includes studies with UK Jazz Pianist, Dominic Alldis and Latin Jazz Pianist, Roland Perrin.
Asif began teaching and performing at an early age and secured his first appointment as musical director for Yamaha Music School, Chapell of Bond Street in London’s West End in 1987. Asif successfully formed International Jazz Band and International Latin Jazz Band, Four Notes and Son2Nos. Both groups successful in their own rights incorporate fusion talents from England, Australia, New Zealand, Venezuela, Malaysia, Brunei and Philippines.
Asif Pishori currently teaches Jazz Piano and Keyboard at various schools and colleges in Kota Kinabalu. Asif has mentored and continues to mentor both students and teachers alike in the transition from traditional training to various styles of contemporary performance.
