About this ebook

Raised a Muslim but increasingly outraged by her religion's hostility towards women, Ayaan Hirsi Ali has now become one of today's most talked-about, admired and controversial political figures because of her desire to free women from an oppressive Muslim culture. Her bestselling collection of essays, THE CAGED VIRGIN, now available in English for the first time, brings together some of her most passionate and compelling writing on a wide range of issues concerning Islam. Drawing on her own first-hand experience and cultural background, she assesses the role of women in Islam both in practice and in theory; the rights of the individual; fanaticism; and Western policies towards immigrant communities.

Provocative and compelling in equal measure, THE CAGED VIRGIN is an important addition to the ongoing debate about the 'clash of civilizations' and marks the debut of a writer and activist destined to be one of the key international figures of the early twenty-first century.

Have you also wondered why a lot of people have chosen islam currently (21st century precisely)? Could it be that they have all failed to see what you see in Islam, or their perspective has no bias(such as an arranged marriage that Islam, by the way, has allowed you to refuse if you don't want to marry. No muslim woman is to be forced into a marriage she doesn't want). Putting Islam aside, would it befit a woman to open her legs to any man she wishes just because she has a right to? Have you got no good you see in why these women cover the way they do? What did you learn from your religion in all the 21 years of your life as a muslim woman? That women don't have the right to go about as they please? You also forgot to mention that the same rules that apply to women concerning restraining from the other gender apply to men as well. Such as not shaking hands and abstaining from sex till marriage All the rules in Islam are for the good of the parson. You only have to look properly. And because Islam is a religion of peace, Assalamualaikum!

This book must've rised quite a lot of controversies until the comment has been banned. But this was a very good read and personally relatable. Thank you for writing this and putting your life at risk. Most don't have the guts to do it.
