As a learner of Spanish, I am always searching for opportunities to satisfy my cravings for more material. Like most human beings, I need variety to keep me interested. However, to learn a language, certain concepts require repetition to be mastered and cannot be avoided. In order to do this, I like to review the same concepts in many different ways until I know them.
One of the ways I achieve this goal of “knowing it” is by constantly reading Spanish books with conversations as the theme. These simulated conversations allow me to stay grounded in the basics as well as fine tune other areas needed for growth as a Spanish speaker.
The problem with this approach is that it becomes increasingly hard to find conversational material once the ability to read reaches the intermediate level. Most material for this level is in the form of articles, novels or non-fiction instead of a conversational format. Yet, conversation is the most important part of speaking and plays the most important role in understanding what others are saying.
The purpose of this book is to offer the intermediate learner (or very advanced beginner) an opportunity to improve his or her conversational ability. It will also increase the reader’s ability to read Spanish. The dialogues in these books take place in diverse settings and are structured like conversations you would experience in similar situations in your own life.
*This book is presented in a bi-lingual format. Spanish is presented first and English follows in italics.
**This book is designed for advanced beginners to intermediate readers. (However, advanced speakers looking for a refresher can use this book as well.)
***The conversations have been translated by professionals.
