Barbara Kennedy has was been painting since 1971 in New York City, where she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Since then, she has produced a wealth of pictures in oils, acrylics, watercolors, dyes, crayon, pastels, pens, pencils, egg tempera, and combinations of mediums and materials. She produced art, clothing, artifacts, and accessories for her store, Ruby Stars, in Locust Valley, NY.Her first one-woman art show was "The President's Choice Show" at the Greenwich Art Society's E. C. Potter Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1994. (She is shown here with her late husband, Paul W. Smith, at the opening.) When asked what inspired her work, she looked over her left shoulder and smiled. The advent of computer graphics has created a new, innovative technique she often uses to enhance the already experimental and edgy images she has created for nearly half a century. The Art Collection Series contains 6 books and hundreds of her images."The Ecology of Photography" is her first book of photography, which spans half a century. It was published by Lipstick Mountains Press in 2014. She also pens the adult literary series, The Lipstick Mountains Memoirs.Ms. Kennedy is a graduate of New York Medical College and Arizona State University; a member of the National League of American Pen Women; and the director of "Prevention through Education."
