WOW, what a beautifully written story about a storyline I’ve never read before. I truly enjoyed this book about Abby and Ethan. Abby is convicted of a crime she didn’t commit and is released after many years, after new evidence is brought forward. When Abby is released, Ethan is there to try to make her transition back to civilian life easier. Is he feeling guilty because he was part of the winning prosecuting team? Ethan truly is a hero in my book. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I highly recommend this book. I really couldn’t stand Ethan’s ex wife, Holly, but his son Sam is a little sweetheart. I absolutely loved this book, but be aware , you might need a tissue box close by. Abby Martin was convicted and sent to prison for life for a murder she didn’t commit. Ethan Cooper, was the young and greenhorn ADA who sat next to the DA during the trial. Eight years later, Abby, resigned to a life behind bars, while suffering from claustrophobia, gets a chance to be free. Evidence shows up that the person she supposedly killed, is alive. Ethan makes it his goal to help her in every way he can. As Ethan spends time with Abby, what started out as guilt for being part of the team that sent her to jail, morphs into something more. It’s a story about righting a wrong. About how circumstances beyond your control, can change your life forever, as well about family dynamics and exes. It is a heartbreaking story about loss. But it’s also a story about hope, new beginnings, second chances and love. This is definitely one of those books you will remember for a very long time. Kudos to Ms McMahon for such a touching and wonderful story. I was gifted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
