About this eBook

Despite growing up isolated with a self-involved father in Cornwall, Tamsin Penrose possesses a perennially positive outlook and sees the best in everything. So, when her father says he’s found a potential groom for her, she is optimistic and perhaps even a little excited—until she meets an enigmatic, unsmiling baron. Intrigued by his serious nature, she’s desperate to turn his frown upside down.

Isaac Deverell, Baron Droxford is unprepared for the storm of cheerfulness that is Miss Penrose, nor can he deny that she makes him—a perpetually dour brooder—feel good. He doesn’t deserve the friendship of someone so charming and kind, let alone the burgeoning attraction between them. However, when her father’s overzealous suitor arrives and won’t take no for an answer, Isaac protects her in a scandalously public fashion.

Forced to propose marriage, Isaac can’t allow Tamsin to see past his grumpy, protective shield. For then, she’ll know she’s done the unimaginable and married a rogue with a despicable secret. Tamsin believes they can find happiness, but will she still feel the same when his past is revealed?

Miss Tamsin Penrose is determinedly caring, optimistic, and cheerful. Isaac Deverell, Baron Droxford, is excessively serious and known for his brooding. When they meet, there’s a mutual spark of attraction, and Tamsin’s kindness and compassion seem to bring out the best in Isaac. I liked both characters and enjoyed watching them get to know each other. However, a potential scandal and past traumas pose a serious obstacle, and the second half of the story featured too much angst for my taste.

Ugh! My heart breaks for where Isaac’s brain and emotions continually took him. It had become a well-worn track and for a while I wasn’t sure if even Tamsin’s cheery optimism would be able to knock him free from it. I enjoyed this opposites-attract semi-arranged marriage story. It was a lot of fun watching this pair discover their similarities and fall for one another. I also really enjoyed seeing the references to the Marrywell Matchmaking Festival.

Loved reading the engaging and captivating story. When the broody Baron Droxford, Isaac, meets Tamsin, Issac finds Tamsin enchanting and wants to spend more time with her, but at the same time, Issac doesn't feel he should find happiness due to an incident in his past. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting love story. Can't wait to read the next story in the Rogue Rules series by the phenomenal author, Darcy Burke!
