WARNING: this story deals with themes of child sexual abuse, sudden infant death, and parents' marriage breakdown due to infidelity. All issues are written about sensitively and in a way that is intended to be accessible for children aged ten and above.

Debbie McGowan is a social scientist, author and publisher, from the North-West UK, whose personal and academic interests collide in her writing, which is character-driven fiction:
"I try to tell the story of the characters' everyday lives, their personal challenges and achievements. I throw in a few big events along the way - the kind of stuff that happens in real life, but when you read it in fiction, you think, 'Well that's a bit far-fetched.'"
