Elisabeth Elliot was a young missionary in Ecuador when members of a remote Amazonian indigenous people group killed her husband Jim and his four colleagues. Ellen Vaughn is the former vice president of executive communications for Prison Fellowship, a speech writer, and fund-raising consultant. She has written or co-written more than twenty books including It's All About Him with Denise Jackson, Choosing to SEE with Mary Beth Chapman, and Mama Maggie: The Untold Story of One Woman's Mission to Love the Forgotten Children of Egypt's Garbage Slums with Martin Makary.

She has earned titles such as "Churchwoman of the Year" (the Religious Heritage Foundation) and "Layperson of the Year" (the National Association of Evangelicals). Her autobiography, Joni, was adapted as a movie.
