'Glaube' ist in allen Schichten des Neuen Testaments zur beherrschenden Bezeichnung des Gottesverhältnisses geworden. Auch der Apostel Paulus rückt den Glauben in den Mittelpunkt seiner Theologie. Auf Grundlage der paulinischen Texte und im Gespräch mit systematisch-theologischen Entwürfen wird in der vorliegenden Studie folgende Doppelthese zur Diskussion gestellt: Glaube ist bei Paulus zum einen anthropologische Kategorie und hat seinen Ort in der sich gegenseitig durchdringenden Dreiheit von Vernunft, Wille und Gefühl. Zum anderen bestimmt Paulus den Glauben christologisch, insofern er mit Jesus Christus in die Welt kam und in Christus Ursprung, Inhalt und Ziel hat. In dieser Dialektik aus anthropologischer und christologischer Perspektive lag und liegt die Dynamik der Frage 'Was ist Glaube?'.
