Benjamin David Goodman (30. Mai 1909 - 13. Juni 1986) war ein amerikanischer Klarinettist und Bandleader, der als "King of Swing" bekannt wurde. Von 1936 bis Mitte der 1940er Jahre leitete Goodman eine der populärsten Swing-Bigbands in den Vereinigten Staaten. Sein Konzert in der Carnegie Hall in New York City am 16. Januar 1938 wird von dem Kritiker Bruce Eder als "das wichtigste Jazz- oder Popmusikkonzert der Geschichte beschrieben: die 'Coming-out'-Party des Jazz in der Welt der 'respektablen' Musik".
