About this eBook

‘Compelling’ Hello!

‘[A] deliciously dark story shot through with black humour.’ Sunday Mirror

A loving husband. The perfect killer?

‘I wonder if Mia thinks I have a dark side. Most likely as far as she knows, I am just her dear loving husband.’

Paul Strom has spent years building his perfect life: glittering career, beautiful wife, two healthy boys and a big house in the suburbs.

But he also has his secrets. That’s why Paul has promised his wife a romantic weekend getaway. He proclaims this day, a warm Friday in May, will be the best day ever.

Paul loves his wife, really, he does. But he also wants to get rid of her. And with every hour that passes, Paul ticks off another stage in his elaborately laid plan...

Creepy, fast-paced psychological thriller for fans of B A Paris and Shalini Boland!

Superb, thought provoking and attention-grabbing! What do you expect form a psychological thriller? Suspense, tension, twists and turns, throughout the storyline this book delivers on all fronts. From the first page to last the author has you hooked, the thought train of the main character is expertly defined and shows an incredible knowledge of how the human mind operates in different situations. The main character has got it all mapped out and is in total control of his destiny and future or so he thinks. Planning a romantic trip with his wife to rekindle their relationship, he starts to notice his wife behaviour has changed and becomes suspicious, the dark side of his soul starts to become disturbed, but to what end? All through the storyline you are kept on tender hooks and question what is going on, which is the sign of an excellent psychological thriller, what is going to happen? Why has his wife's behaviour changed? What is going to be the outcome? The writers prose is first class and I could not put this book down, it had everything that I expected and more, having read a lot of thrillers I can normally guess the result but not in this case which enhanced the reading. This book should be taken to the big screen and would rate up there with the great Alfred Hitchcock I cannot give this book enough praise and if I write anymore I am endanger of spoiling it for other readers. This is the first book I have read by this author and is now on my list alongside Lee Child, James Patterson and Ian Rankin that’s how highly I rate this story and cannot wait for future publications.

This psychological thriller is unlike one I've read before, partly due to the unreliable and hugely crazy narrator. The book is set over a 24-hour period, and follows characters Paul and Mia. Paul simply wants to take his wife away for a romantic weekend together, the Best Day Ever. But things don't quite go to plan, and it all comes to a head between the loved-up couple. If you're a fan of thrillers, this one will keep you on your toes right until the end. Definitely for anyone who loves a psychological thriller! I'll be reading more of Kaira Rouda in the future.

It felt like it was leading up to a plot twist that never came. Disappointing.
