Remember, it's just pretend! This is one of my all-time favorite scenarios: The fake engagement. What makes this story different from the rest is the added dynamic of Lilly and Derek knowing each other since childhood. In my opinion, this familiarity afforded them some liberties, given their in-depth knowledge of each other, that other couples simply couldn't take. I enjoyed this story because Bethany kept the characters pretty realistic. Of course, there's an element of undeniable temptation when a girl's childhood crush asks her to fake-marry him, but Lilly did an admirable job of keeping her eye on the prize and not letting her emotions get the better of her. For a while. Likewise, Derek did his best to stick to the plan and stay focused on why they were in this crazy scenario in the first place and not focus on his feelings towards Lilly. But holy smokes, when their restraint reached its limit, hotness erupted! I met some interesting characters such as Lilly's best friend and Derek's little sister Shana (I'd LOVE to read her story!) and even the "villain" (although she really wasn't much of a villain) Serena (she might need a story too!) All in all, I loved reading how their feelings changed towards each other and the revelations that came along with those new feelings. I would definitely read more books by Bethany! (I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)

This is a fun romance with Derek, a race car driver, who needs a fake fiance to keep the daughter of an investor at bay. Lilly is his sister's best friend that he's known all their lives. Lilly got dumped and fired at the same time just before she meets Derek for lunch. He helps her put on a show in front of her former boyfriend, then convinces her to be his fake fiance. Before long, it spirals out of control as all their family and friends believe its real. This had lots of sexy romance and was an entertaining novel that fans of the genre will love.

Lilly has a 5 year plan that just fell apart. Her fiancé dumped her and she lost her job all in one moment. As she meets Derek for lunch, the boy next door growing up that she always had a crush on, she doesn’t know what she will do next. What she never expects is for Derek to ask her to be his fake fiancé. Derek is desperate to close a sponsorship deal so he can buy out his dad from the race team but the owner’s daughter wants to get her hooks into him. He has a brilliant idea, if I show up with a fiancé, she can’t pursue me and who better to ask than Lilly, a woman he’s known his whole life. Derek is totally career focused and doesn’t have time for relationships. Can these two friends act like a couple in love? Will Lilly’s heart be able to handle being this close to Derek? Or will love find them both along the way? I loved that Lilly knew what she wanted in life and worked for it. She was also the one person that never took any of Derek’s crap. Derek thinks he knows what he wants in life, his parent’s divorce shaping his perceptions but Lilly might just rock his foundation. There are incredible sparks and banter that make this fun, sweet, sexy romance totally enjoyable.
